<p>The updated Continental GT 650 takes its inspiration from the 1970s era of British motorcycling, with its cast alloy wheels and blacked-out aesthetic. Alongside its classically-styled, ‘50s and ‘60s-inspired predecessors, it recaptures the spirit of the cafe racer culture of the time and that of our own Continental GT 250. <p><strong>There are few characters in the history of motorcycling quite as interesting and scandalous as Floyd Clymer.  And that’s saying a LOT in an industry full of eccentrics, grouches, weirdos, and ne-er-do-wells!  The story of Clymer’s Indians is almost Hollywood bizarre.  Equal parts criminal and genius, it was from an era where rules only applied to those who didn’t run or talk fast enough.  Clymer did both.</strong></p><p><strong>We took this Ventura Storm in on trade recently with just over 150 miles and we’ve been wanting to do a tribute of sorts to Clymer’s unbelievably wacky Enfield Indian of the early ’70s.  We think it came out pretty cool but, unlike the original, it’s not illegal.   Runs and rides great.  I think he was on to something.  Unfortunately, the lawyers were on to Floyd.  Ah, what could have been…</strong></p>

<p><strong>Now, I may be biased, but you gotta admit, Ventura Blue is one of the most gorgeous paints ever slathered on to a two-wheeler.  Am I right?</strong></p><p><strong>This immaculate GT has covered just over 2000 miles since new, and has been fitted with a delicious assortment of accessories such as Royal Enfield’s color-matched seat cowl (the more Venture Blue the better), Royal Enfield tinted fly screen, S&S stainless steel mufflers (oh my!), center stand, and Royal Enfield’s excellent bar end mirrors.</strong></p><p><strong>This is a super-clean example of RE’s flagship cafe’ racer.  Ride Pure!</strong></p>

<p><strong>First year GT and what a ground-breaking bike it was!  RE’s first all-new bike since 1970, the little GT proved that Royal Enfield was prepared to mature, but never grow up.  At its heart, the 535cc overhead valve motor pumped out a healthy 27-ish HP – not really race ready, but good for a solid 70 mph all day long.  Brembo brakes and Paoli suspension gave a gleam of class, the all new chassis was developed by Harris Performance and the styling was totally on point.</strong></p><p><strong>This one was bought new here in 2014 and still wears its vintage (and sought after) first-year-only old-school Royal Enfield badging.  It is nearly stock with a few tasty exceptions: 7″ headlight conversion, up-tilted megaphone muffler (sounds soooo good!), and aluminum bar end mirrors.  It has also been fitted with a capacitor ignition so no need for a battery.  Just kick and go!  The tank shows a few small scratches (likely from a jacket zipper while racing from cafe’ to cafe’), but overall it is in excellent shape.  Just serviced and ready to ride!</strong></p>
