1957 Maico Taifun in Norcross, GA
$14,500

Used 1957 Maico Classic / Vintage

Taifun

**************************** Fabulous 1957 Maico Taifun**************************

Founded by the Maisch brothers, Wilhelm and Otto, in the mid-1930s, Maisch & Co (Maico) built two-stroke lightweights at first but soon was forced to change direction to support Germany’s war effort. Having supplied aircraft components to the Luftwaffe during WW2, Maico turned to the manufacture of children’s toys after the conflict ended and did not resume motorcycle production until 1947. But whereas before the war proprietary engines had been used, Maico now built complete machines using its own power units. The largest of these 1950s Maicos was the Taifun (Typhoon) a model of advanced design powered by a two-stroke twin-cylinder engine of either 350 or 400cc. Introduced in October 1953 at the Frankfurt Show, the Taifun boasted a leading-link front fork and swinging-arm rear suspension, but its most unusual features were to be found within the transmission, which incorporated an automatic clutch and duplex chain final drive, the latter being encased within a cast-aluminium oil bath that formed the right side of the swinging arm. The frame was equally innovative, combining a single down-tube, aluminium-alloy centre section and semi-enclosing tailpiece to produce a design exceptional sleekness and practicality. It was fast too, a 400 Taifun lapping the Montlhery circuit at 84mph while on test by a French motorcycling magazine. This Maico Taifun was in its present well-preserved and original condition when acquired in 2012 buy our owner John Landstrom. The former owner was the secretary of the Maico owners club England. It bears the dealer tag of the selling dealer, "Speedway of Action" London England, one of only 40 Taifuns sold in England. It was recently shown and ridden at the Hilton Head Concours November 2022 and is now offered for sale for the first time. This bike has the high quality fit and finish of NSUs and BMWs of the period, offering the prospects of a comfortable ride, excellent performance and an exhilarating exhaust note, this rare and desirable Maico roadster is offered with current Georgia registration. 1951 Moto Guzzi Falcone Sport in Norcross, GA
$32,500

Used 1951 Moto Guzzi Classic / Vintage

Falcone Sport

**************************** Moto Guzzi Falcone Sport ************************

There are those who might consider that some motorcycles are over exposed, and that some of the parts on display would be better hidden. Take the Moto Guzzi Falcone Sport, for example. Is it perhaps a little too naked, maybe wearing too much of its heart on its sleeve? The huge outside flywheel on the engine’s left side, for example? Or the rear suspension’s chrome-plated friction dampers, the positive-stop gearshift mechanism, the clutch actuator and oil pump, all bolted to the outside of the engine?

In the Falcone’s case, this exuberance comes honestly, because the bike’s basic design can be traced back — without fundamental change — to the first Moto Guzzi of 1921 and even to Guzzi’s first design, the Moto Guzzi-Parodi prototype of 1919.

Our Falcone Sport is the personal bike of Blue Moon Cycle's owner John Landstrom. He has displayed it at the Hilton Head Concours where it took first place 2020. In 2022 it was ridden in the 100 mile tour at Riding into History at St Agustine Florida. This motorcycle is a pleasure to ride, it has an idle so low you can count the RPM on your fingers. Call John for details. 770 447 6945. world wide shipping available.

1946 Harley-Davidson WL "45" Flathead A in Norcross, GA
$32,500

Used 1946 Harley-Davidson Classic / Vintage

WL "45" Flathead A

1946 Harley-Davidson WL Stroker Flathed

The best of everything

This wonderfully restored 1946 Harley-Davidson WL is the absolute workhorse of the Milwaukee lineup, earning accolades as a soldier in World War II and having the longest production run of any Harley-Davidson motor while also acquitting itself amazingly well on the race track. That was Harley-Davidson in a nutshell: building V-twins with enough meat to make them indestructible and enough room in the castings to carve out airspace for better breathing and higher horsepower. It certainly helped that the W series of 45s had a four-cam timing chest, which meant they inherited many years of tuning expertise from Harley-Davidson’s factory racers, so when Class C racing for catalog-stock motorcycles was introduced in 1934, the company had a machine that could duke it out with the best and come out on top. Racing versions of the Model W included the WR and WRTT, which were still taking victories at races like Daytona in the postwar era and even taking the Grand National Championship in 1947-1950. The WL has broken records on all the nation’s race tracks, and it is providing hundreds of thousands of riders many happy hours of pleasant, economical, and trouble-free rides.”

This WL is something special, its the personnel bike of Blue Moon Cycle owner John Landstrom for the last 18 years. It comes with an inch tall stack of receipts for all the work that went into its restoration. Documentation includes the following engine work: Complete lower end rebuild with custom made S&S flywheels to 54 inch stroker 4 7/16 stroke, sportster polished rods, WLDR cams , Venolia custom made pistons, machined and polished heads, NOS exhaust valves, Chevy ¼ inch oversize intake valves, copper head gaskets, K model valve springs, Jims pinion shaft, WLD intake manifold, 1971 G model cycliders ported and relieved, machined nipple threads, NOS Harley rings with Hastings oil rings, Cases clearanced for stroker flywheels and front cylinder oiler added. Longer cylinder studs. M51 carburetor, modified air filter cover with foam filter. 33 tooth sproket, breather valve “Z” cut. Compression ratio is 6.5/1

New fork springs, spokes and wheels built by Buchannans, Fork rebuilt with all new bearings and bushings, new clutch, new racing compound brakes, completely rebuilt gearbox, it's really getting to be too much to list here, I am not 1/4th thru the receipts . Lets just say this was a no expense spared restoration done in 1996 using only the best high performance parts.. It has been in my possession since 2004, I ride it regularly and it runs and sounds more like a sportster than a WL. If you want the best Harley WL street bike in the world, this could be it. It was a Harley Davidson calendar bike around 2002

Feel free to call me for more details or to schedule a test ride. John Landstrom 770 447 6945
