Royal Enfield is an Indian manufacturing brand, and in 1901, their first motorcycle was built. They created and produced the Royal Enfield Bullet which is the longest-lived motorcycle model to date. The company began by producing motorcycles suitable for law enforcement and army in India, specifically to patrol the border of the country. The Royal Enfield Bullet was chosen as the best vehicle for the job. All of the bikes built and components manufactured for Royal Enfield, were done solely in India at this point. In 1990, they collaborated with an automotive company, the Eicher Group, to expand their brand. They ultimately merged with the group in 1994. Throughout the rest of the 90's Royal Enfield experience difficulties in business and in result, had to shut down manufacturing in their primary factory, located in Jaipur, in 2002.
Demand for motorcycles began to increase, and in 2013 Royal Enfield opened a new headquarters in Oragadam and began producing more motorcycles than ever before. With improved new models and the evolution of the original Bullet, the business began to boom and expand.
Today, Royal Enfield motorcycles can be found in more than 50 countries, and in 2015, they established a headquarters location in North America. The success of their business speaks for itself, surpassing Harley Davidson in global sales in 2015. Find Motorcycles in .
