The Royal Enfield Continental GT is a café racer that features either a standard dual seat or an optional solo seat with a seat hump. It is considered the "sibling" to the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 roadster.
The main differences between the two are the fuel tank is more angular than what's seen on the roadster. It has less chrome than the Interceptor, and also features clip-on handlebars and rear-seat pegs to provide a sportier riding position.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT went into production in 2018. It features a 648 cc four-stroke engine with a six-speed manual transmission and a top speed of 110 mph. The bike was designed at the company's development center in Leicestershire, England.
The Royal Enfield Continental GT and its sibling bike, marketed as the INT 650 in the U.S. due to the Honda trademark on the name, will hit the market this year. The bike will be marketed across India, Europe, and the U.S. It's expected to become the biggest selling largest-capacity twin in the world.
As a café racer, the Continental GT is a lightweight bike optimized for speed and handling for fast rides over short distances. It is not an ideal option for long distance rides because comfort is sacrificed in the name of better speed and handling.
