This particular motorcycle is one of the very last bikes produced by the Velocette factory before they closed their doors for good. ( for more of an indepth desription of the Velocette story, see the YouTube video of Jay Leno’s ride on his Velocette Thruxton)</p><p><br></p><p>Velocette was a British motorcycle company which manufactured low production, high quality, smooth running motorcycles build to last. This particular bike was bought new in 1969 by Tom Lester (an antique car restoration icon) who held it in his collection of over 100 motorcycles as one of his favorite rides. Tom Lester restored many brass antique automobiles and also established Lester Tire to supply tires to antique car buffs who found themselves unable to drive their cars due to lack of availablitiy of tires to fit their cars. He also established Lester Wheels – a company which supplied after market bolt-on mag wheels for motorcycles before motorcycle manufacturers began to offer them as orignal equipment. Tom had his own Lester wheels installed on this bike. I am the third owner of this bike, after Tom and by brother who had also worked at Lester Tire. In short, I knew all the owners of this bike and its entire ownership history. There are many spare parts, shop manuals and books to go with this bike.</p><p><br></p><p>This motorcycle has 4,000 miles on it. It is unrestored and in good running condition.</p>

2017 Triumph Street Cup with 9570 miles. 900cc twin. This is a great starter bike that is incredibly easy to ride. It also is fun for more experienced riders as well. Top speed is about 125MPH on the highway but will reach 110MPH easily. I don't really want to sell it but I am trying to get money for closing costs to buy a house. I am asking $5,500 for it. I bought this bike from Laidlaws in Aug 2002. They had put on a ton of extras and I walked into the showroom and bought it immediately. Mark, the Service Manager in Temecula performed the Stage III, chromed the inner primary and much more. No one has ever touched this bike except Mark. It's perfect with all records. Never a leak. <p>We restored this 1988 BMW R100GS just last year for an older client, the bike is a little tall for him and the time has come to pass it along. I'm 6'00 and find the bike to have a comfortable riding position, however yes, on the taller side.The bike was sourced locally out of Ojai, California with just under 40,000 miles prior to the work.The engine has gone through a crank out rebuild. The engine was stripped to the case and glass beaded before being rebuilt with new bearings throughout, new euro spec high compression pistons, new nikasil cylinders and refurbished cylinder heads. The gearbox went through a similar process, stripped and glass beaded before being rebuilt with new bearings and any worn gears replaced with new. Original Bing carbs were vapor blasted and rebuilt in the process.The bodywork has been refinished in Avus Black paint and completed with new decals, the frame wears original paint. The bike came equipped with a rare factory optioned tachometer, of which was rebuilt along with the speedo during the restoration work. Headers are stainless, complete with a cross over pipe as per the factory exhaust, mated to the original collector and chrome muffler. Wheels were stripped and vapor blasted before being rebuilt with new bearings, stainless spokes and black anodized Sun rims, 21" front and 17" rear. The rebuilt wheels are clad in Michelin Awake Wild tires.New handlebars, new hand controls and switches. New grips and mirrors. The original seat was reupholstered with a new factory cover. Aftermarket aluminum panniers from Unit garage, complete with keys. The cases are easily removable for convenience. Ohlins adjustable suspension on the rear. An auxiliary light from PIAA was installed, the factory crash bar was modified in the process to seamlessly mount the light. Along with this modification came an aftermarket side stand from SureFoot for ease of use, the factory side stand was notoriously awkward. The sidestand was modified to correct the lean angle Pictures speak a thousand words. It's a handsome motorcycle that runs like a new machine. 40 year old air cooled BMWs aren't expected to be fast, this one will pleasantly surprise you with its spritely performance.
