Some of the approved use was Police, Fire, Mail, Farmers during the time period. The Indian 741 Scout was used for Military deployment.

The Chief was purchased from Mike Tomas of Kiwi Indian Motorcycles in 2005. https://kiwiindian.com/pages/about-us It was part of an estate sale of a gentleman in Chicago who, as I understand, used to be a Motorcycle Police Officer back in the day.

The fenders skirts on these bikes were removed to save metal for the war effort.

You’ll notice on page 1 of the PDF that it is listed as 1944, this bike is a 1945. The 1945 bikes were exactly the same as the 1944 but due to the war effort, there was minimal advertising and the use of parts was strictly monitored. 1945 was the least production year of the Civilian Essential Use Chief’s and it has been listed that there may have been 1,970 produced but I have spoken to several Indian Motorcycle experts who believe the actual number was much lower. This machine has a low production number of CDE384 which makes the machine a rare low number collector machine.

These motorcycles are very hard to find, especially in the restored condition.

Trades Considered

1970 Honda SL 175 175 in Rancho Mirage, CA
$6,500

Used 1970 Honda Classic / Vintage

SL 175 175

I am selling 2 of my Restored Honda SL 175’s out of my collection. The price is obviously for each bike individually. All are mint and original motor matching examples The Candy Ruby Red bike and the Topaz Orange bike are both 1970 Models. The Topaz one carries a 1971 title because in Vermont, where it was from, it was first sold new in 1971, so they title it as a '71 (see pics of vin tags for each). There are some minor differences between a 70 and a 71, these are definitely both 1970SL's. I have current valid Registrations/Titles for both bikes. These are some of the nicest around, period. I have had them on display only, I start and ride them each monthly for obvious reasons. Both bikes start, run and ride great with no issues. All lights, horns etc. operate as well. ZERO leaks or drips. Each example is ready to enjoy ride and/or display.

Feel free to call and discuss. NO LOWBALLS PLEASE, This is the price. You will not find better sorted examples of the hard to find 175 Twin models. I have way over the asking price invested in these pristine examples. (714) 345-2276 Thank you. David

PS., All bikes have fresh tunes, fluid changes, and all have 93 octane racing fuel in them. NO CARB ISSUES at all. They all run as expected.

GOLD WING

NATIONWIDE DELIVERY AVAILABLE.

This is a 1978 Honda GL1000 Goldwing. It has a bit under 53k miles and is in very nice condition. It starts right up, and after a brief warm up period, its ready to ride. Everything works on this bike, including all gauges, switches, and lights. These early 'Wings are quickly becoming collectable and harder to find in nice original condition like this. This bike has its original gloss dark burgundy paint still.

When this bike arrived to us, it was the typical '70s Touring setup with the Vetter fairing, and chrome guard rails everywhere. We always remove all this when we recondition an early Goldwing, and get it back to a stock setup. During the reconditioning process, both the front and rear brake systems were gone thru, included flushing, cleaning, replacing seals as needed, and reassembled and serviced with new DOT 4 fluid. The carburetors were disassembled, ultrasonic cleaned, reassembled with new parts as needed, then reinstalled, tuned to the bike, and synchronized and then a brand new battery installed. And of course every bike always gets a fresh oil & filter change.

If you're looking for a nice, original and correct, 1970's era GL1000 Goldwing, this one is worth your consideration. 2016 Triumph Thruxton, CAFE RACER BUILT TO PREFORM!!

2016 Triumph Thruxton
The Thruxton is born of the café racer culture that dominated motorcycling in the 1960s
Performance
The café racers were built to perform, not just to look good.

Today, this 865cc parallel twin puts out a healthy 69PS with 69Nm of torque at its peak, with plenty available at low revs so you get most use out of it.

Fuelling is controlled by a sophisticated computer programmed management system for clean emissions and a smooth, predictable throttle response.
Configuration
The basic format is the same as the current Bonneville, with 360 degree firing intervals, double overhead cams, eight valves, twin balance shafts and fuel injection. So you know it's a thoroughly modern engine that, despite its convincing old-school looks, easily meeting Triumph’s high standard of reliability, durability and efficiency.

Features may include:
STYLING

Sound

It's the sound and feel of the engine that matters, from the thumping thrust of the generous low rev torque to the eager high revs and the purring, even exhaust note. So distinctive to the parallel twin.

Bodywork

We used classic 1960s paint schemes with period sports stripes and fitted a typical single-seat, or so it looks thanks to the rear cover. In actual fact a passenger can enjoy the ride on a Thruxton too.

Handlebars

Low and narrow 'Ace' handlebars, named after London's famous Ace Café, with classic bar-end mirrors sit behind a colour-coded flyscreen.

Instruments

Twin instrument pods sitting high on their top yoke mounting position.

Engine

The engine and transmission has been engineered with the look of the classic Triumph twins in mind. Even the fuel injection has been moulded so you get the appearance of a pair of carburettors. And there are double overhead camshafts despite what looks like a pushrod tube at the front of the engine, just like the café racers of the 60s used to have.
Frame
All of our extensive chassis experience and technology has gone into the Thruxton’s simple tubular steel construction. Providing easy, neutral steering and exceptional balance even at low speeds.
Suspension
We fitted 41mm forks and chromed rear shocks and retuned them for a firmer ride and tighter control in high speed corners. The shocks include adjustability for spring preload for carrying a passenger or to suit your riding style.
Wheels, Tyres and Brakes
We fitted the front with a big 320mm single disc strong enough to match the sporting pedigree of the Thruxton with plenty of feedback to enhance your ride. Yet we've made it as unobtrusive as possible within the 1960s styling.

At the rear is another disc, so there’s no com

1978 Moto Guzzi 850 LeMans in Elkhart Lake, WI
$20,900

Used 1978 Moto Guzzi Classic / Vintage

850 LeMans
Stock # 6514
1978 Moto Guzzi 850 LeMans, In Moto Guzzi's long history, there are several models that have stood the test of time. But for many, the ultimate offering is the 850 Le Mans. The Le Mans borrowed the 850T's engine, but with high-compression pistons running in the chrome-lined alloy barrels, larger valves, new camshaft and two 36mm pumper Dell'Orto carbs. Brembo calipers gripped the twin drilled cast iron front brake discs, one of which was linked to the rear disc through the brake pedal (the system also used on the triple-disc 850T3).
What was different about the Le Mans was its styling. The clip-on bars, rear set footrests and humped seat all made it a worthy successor to the V7 Sport. At 71hp and 124mph (when introduced in 1976) it may not have been as quick as the Kawi, but it would see off the Beemer and be just behind the Duc. Deservedly popular in its day and still very usable in modern highway conditions, the Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans is a true classic that has justifiably acquired cult status. This cult classic Mark I Le Mans are appreciating classics and fantastic investment motorcycles. This example given its condition and the limited production run; this is the one you've been waiting for!
1977 Hercules W2000 Wankel, In 1969 Sachs took control of the firm and the Hercules name stayed, most notably used in association with the W2000 of the mid 1970s - The world's first commercially built Wankel rotary engined motorcycle. Hercules took on a very Japanese-look in appearance looking much like the venerable Honda CB750K from forks to fuel tank and seat. Its 294cc or 882cc (depending on how you measure) motor produced a claimed 27 bhp at 6,500 rpm and gave a top speed of almost 90 mph. But the rotary, which was marketed under the DKW brand in Britain, did not sell well, and recent production with the marquee has been limited to two-stroke motorcycles smaller than 100cc.
German industrial giant, Fichel and Sachs, had manufacturing rights to the Wankel rotary engine. To promote this radical new design, they had their subsidiary motorcycle company, DKW, design and build the first mass produced rotary motorcycle. Unfortunately, 1974 was the period of gas shortages, and while the DKW was fast, gas mileage dipped to under 30 mpg when ridden hard. Sales were disappointing and production ended. These machines were marketed as Hercules in North America. The next machine to have a rotary engine would be the Suzuki RE5.
The Wankel engine would form the foundation of the British experiments with rotary engined motorcycles which eventually resulted in the aforementioned Norton rotary bikes which would go on to achieve significant successes on the race track and at the Isle of Man TT.
1998 Moto Guzzi V11 in Norcross, GA
$4,995

Used 1998 Moto Guzzi Classic / Vintage

V11

Quirky and eclectic, like many of the motorcycles we love, Moto Guzzi'a heavyweight cruisers like this 1998 EV1100 are considered something of an acquired taste, with a small but intensely loyal following. A large part of their charm can be traced directly the sport bike DNA that infuses nearly all Guzzis, and to these bikes' sophisticated simplicity.

Built on what's essentially an early LeMans Sport bike platform, the EV comes equipped with such non-cruiser like features as a fully adjustable suspension; the front fork has provisions to set compression and rebound damping, while the rear shocks carry spring preload and damping adjusters (there's even an adjustable hydraulic steering damper. Braking is handled by robust dual four-piston Brembo front calipers, squeezing 320mm floating rotors, while out back there's a single two piston caliper clamping down on a fixed, 282mm disc. The brakes are linked, with the foot pedal operating through a proportioning valve that controls the left front and the rear caliper, while the hand lever operates the right front caliper independently. It's unusual to find these kind of components on any cruiser, let alone one of this vintage.

The 1100cc pushrod-actuated, fuel-injected two-valve, 90? V-twin develops 70 ft-lb of torque and 72 horsepower at 5,000 and 6400 rpm (respectively) which gets the 552 lb. bike down the road in a pretty lively though not exactly mind-blowing fashion, though that's way more power than most bikes its size. The engine is mounted transversely, which both quells vibration and facilitates shaft drive (and adds that funky torque effect). Givi top box and Hepco & Becker sidecases offered as moto guzzi accessories have been added. The windshield brackets are there but no windshield. Rear turnsignal stantions will be replaced.

With friendly ergos and a reliability that's second to none, the Guzzi EV makes a terrific all-around motorcycle, especially for the rider that prefers something out of the mainstream -- yet still classically Italian. This bike has had only one female one owner, bought new in Georgia in May of 1998.

We have serviced it in our shop and we installed a new battery. She runs and rides perfect, ready for a long trip or a brick ride through the Mountains. Call John for details 770 447 6945 x 20

.

1974 Kawasaki KZ400 400 in Norcross, GA
$2,995

Used 1974 Kawasaki Classic / Vintage

KZ400 400

Nice little bike. Great for commuting, but entirely capable of a cross-country trip. Kawasaki had been looking at the success of Honda’s little four-stroke twin, the CB350, which had modest performance but all the amenities Americans seemed to like, including an electric starter. Kawasaki’s R&D backroom boys put their heads together, drew up plans and came forth with a very efficient, if rather uninspired, 398cc vertical twin, with a 360-degree crankshaft, an overhead camshaft and an electric leg.

The frame was a simple double cradle having dual downtubes, with a big, fat backbone tube meeting up with the cradle at the swingarm pivot, a very solid affair that avoided any notion of flexiness. Front fork was by Kawasaki, very much like a Ceriani, and on the inexpensive, non-adjustable side. Five inches of travel was good, with a 27-degree rake and trail of approximately four inches offering a very middle-of-the-road stance. The swingarm ran out 20 inches, bouncing along on a cheap pair of Kawasaki shock absorbers having preload adjustability and three inches of travel. Too soft, reviewers said.

Spoked wheels were both 18 inchers, the front carrying a 3.25 tire, the rear, 3.50. Braking was done by a single 226mm (10.91-inch) disc on the front, a 180mm (7.09-inch) drum on the back. As a polite reviewer might say, adequate. But this was not intended for sporting riding like the Z-1, and the brakes worked fine for commuter use. The wet-sump engine was straightforward, being slightly oversquare with a 64mm bore, 62mm stroke. Of minor note was the chain-driven counter-rotating balancer system down in the crankcase, called “harmonic” by one reviewer. It did not smooth out all vibrations, but for anyone happy to ride at two-thirds of redline (9,000 rpm) it was entirely adequate. The four valves, two per cylinder, were pushed down by a single overhead camshaft, and 36mm Keihin CV carbs fed high-test gas (preferred) and air into the combustion chambers, where it was compressed 9:1. The engine was rated by the factory at 35 ponies, which was usually measured at the crankshaft, not the rear wheel; on a dyno it was closer to 29. Respectable; good for an honest 90 mph.

Our Kawasaki KZ400 is it great shape. She is a pleasure to ride and very reliable. Call John for details 770 447 6945 x 20

R60/2 /2

The R60/2 was synonymous with long-distance reliability when it was introduced in 1960. Its 30-horsepower, 600-cc air-cooled twin was capable of hauling a bike, its rider, and an adventure’s worth of gear anywhere in the world, as Danny Liska proved by taking an R60/2 from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in the early 1960s

1969 is the last and best year for the BMWR60/2

This BMW was bought here at Blue Moon Cycle in 1997, now 26 years later we bought it back from the wife of the previous owner. He always loved this bike and he took good care of it. We gave it a thorough inspection, changed the fluids and installed a new battery. It runs and rides perfect, the motor is smooth and quiet. 1961 NSU SUPER MAX in Norcross, GA
$14,900

Used 1961 NSU Classic / Vintage

SUPER MAX

This NSU is called the Supermax because it was simply a superior 250cc roadster of the 1950s and early ‘60s. NSU built the smoothest, fastest, best-handling and most reliable 250 in the industry by the 1950s, with a unit-construction, 4-speed motor that was virtually unbreakable in a pressed-steel chassis with leading-link forks styled gracefully with deep fenders and rounded chrome fuel tank. Chief NSU engineer Albert Roder designed his own system for driving the rocker gear of the Max series of roadsters, which first appeared in 1952 as the Model 251 OSB Max. Rather than using pushrods or a chain-drive OHC or a shaft-and-bevel OHC, Roder created a unique valve train using a pair of connecting rods running alongside the cylinder that gave positive OHC valve operation he called the Ultramax system. The system proved easy to tune, and the factory offered a Sportmax production racer version of the Max series that shared its pressed-steel chassis and simple single-cylinder motor, at a time when the NSU factory absolutely dominated the 250cc class of the World Championships.

Our NSU Supermax is the less common Blue color, it is unrestored, original paint and upholstery. The chrome is quite good with some light surface rust on the spokes and areas of the rims. The gas tank has a small 1 inch long dent on the left side. The tires are the old German Dunlops that were OEM on this bike. This bike runs and rides perfect. It starts easy and is a joy to ride. The odometer indicates 13892 miles which is believed to be actual miles. It has been part of the Blue Moon Cycle collection for nearly 20 years and now offered for the first time. Call John for details. 770 447 6945 x 20

Model 120 with Stoye sidecar separate or together

Please note: we are now offering the Panther Motorcycle as a solo machine, without sidecar

This 1959 Panther motorcycle was owned by Herm Levine of Easton, PA. Herm owned the Indian dealership in Easton and later opened "Herm's Leathertogs" in Daytona, FL. Herm was know for his high quality leather motorcycle jackets. His lifetime AMA membership sticker is affixed to the gas tank.
Panther M120

Made 1959-66. 649cc single-cylinder engine.

Panther Model 120 was a British motorcycle made between 1965 and 1971 by Phelon & Moore

The Panther sloper engine designed by Granville Bradshaw remained unchanged for 25 years and the 650cc 'heavyweight' had many of the Model 100 components. The increased capacity was achieved by boring out the Model 100 cylinder by 1mm and increasing the stroke by 6mm. As well as increased low speed torque this improved acceleration and top end cruising speed.

Panthers were a favorite sidecar tug and could often be seen commuting families around England. Or Panther is hooked to a German Stoye sidecar and fortunately the sidecar is mounted on the right side for safe use un the USA. Our bike has an honest patina for its age and has been proven to be a reliable, good running machine.
