The Yamaha 650 is a mid-sized motorcycle that was produced and manufactured by Yamaha from 1970 through 1983.
The motorcycle features a 653cc, four-stroke, vertical twin engine that reaches an impressive top speed of 105 mph. In its debut year, it was the largest bike in Yamaha's inventory and was only available in one color scheme, green and white. The classic design remained virtually unchanged until it was discontinued in 1980. It did, however, undergo some changes including adjustments to the frame, new engine components, and the addition of an electrical starter and disc brakes. By 1977, the Yamaha 650 had really come together and made a name for itself. Fun to ride, powerful, smooth and reliable, riders had plenty of good things to say about the motorcycle.
Despite its high quality and durability, the Yamaha 650 was discontinued in favor of a newer, more modern model. They have not been erased from the motorcycle world, though. Today, you can still find the Yamaha 650, and you can find it for cheap. Riders looking for a vintage motorcycle that still delivers powerful performance and gives off a nostalgic feel, can snatch one of these up for a couple thousand dollars.
