1970 Velocette MSS in Gates Mills, OH
$7,500

Used 1970 Velocette Classic / Vintage

MSS

Used 1970 VELOCETTE MSS for sale

Own an esquisite piece of British motorcycling history!

This is a 1969 Velecette MSS 500cc single cylinder. This particular motorcycle is one of the very last bikes produced by the Velocette factory before they closed their doors for good. ( for more of an indepth desription of the Velocette story, see the YouTube video of Jay Leno’s ride on his Velocette Thruxton)

Velocette was a British motorcycle company which manufactured low production, high quality, smooth running motorcycles build to last. This particular bike was bought new in 1969 by Tom Lester (an antique car restoration icon) who held it in his collection of over 100 motorcycles as one of his favorite rides. Tom Lester restored many brass antique automobiles and also established Lester Tire to supply tires to antique car buffs who found themselves unable to drive their cars due to lack of availablitiy of tires to fit their cars. He also established Lester Wheels – a company which supplied after market bolt-on mag wheels for motorcycles before motorcycle manufacturers began to offer them as orignal equipment. Tom had his own Lester wheels installed on this bike. I am the third owner of this bike, after Tom and by brother who had also worked at Lester Tire. In short, I knew all the owners of this bike and its entire ownership history. There are many spare parts, shop manuals and books to go with this bike.

This motorcycle has 4,000 miles on it. It is unrestored and in good running condition.

1970 Honda CB750 750 in Elkhart Lake, WI
$26,900

Used 1970 Honda Classic / Vintage

CB750 750
Stock # 1641
1970 Honda CB750 , Introduced at the Tokyo Motorcycle show in November 1968 and launched in the UK in April 1969, the CB 750 was a groundbreaking design with its 736 cc, cross-frame SOHC four-cylinder engine, five-speed gearbox, electric start, and front disc brake. Four carburetors led to four separate exhausts.
Just as appealing as its design was its cost. At just $1,495 MSRP, the CB 750 had a $400 price advantage over its two- and three-cylinder rivals from Great Britain, and in the next 10 years 448,900 examples would be built before the advent of the DOHC engine. Save a few electrical gremlins, the CB 750 also had bulletproof reliability, a trait that few really expected at the time. The American motorcycle market would never be the same.
Back on the road, the CB 750 was such a huge success in sales that Honda had to alter their production process. While the early bikes had dull sandcast engine casings, later ones had smooth die-cast parts. Predictably, it's the early bikes that now command the highest prices.
This early Honda CB750 is one of the finest we have seen and is a truly collector quality example. Spending the last few years in a museum, the bike has been cared for to the highest degree. This CB750 is at the top of the market, and rightfully so as it is at the top of the quality benchmark. This is the CB750 you've lusted for since its unveiling in 1969!

1970 Honda CB750 Pre K

Date of Manufacture 5/70

VIN CB750-1037447

Engine CB750E-1037811

31,182 miles

3rd Owner

I’ve had this since 1976. I set it up at that time with a Windjammer III fairing, custom seat, oil cooler, front crash bar, rear rack/backrest, and saddlebags. I put around 25,000 miles on it riding across the country on several trips.

I laid it up in 2008 after I removed the several aftermarket add ons. I drained all fluids/battery for long term covered storage in my shop. It has never been stored outside. I recently pulled it out and began the process of refreshing it back into operating condition.

I completed the following; I used the KBS Coatings 52050 system to clean and coat the fuel tank. It wasn’t leaking and only had light surface rust, but I wanted it to be trouble free. I replaced the fuel selector valve rubber parts, fuel tank mounts front/rear, fuel cap gasket, all fuel vent, drain and supply hoses, fuse holder, battery, rubber grommets for side covers, new master cylinder, and rebuilt the wheel cylinder, new oil/filter, new fork boots and new Avon front and rear tires. I put repair kits in carburetors and replaced intake and air filter rubber boots. I replaced the right handle bar switch (kill, headlight, starter button) and new front brake light pressure switch. Anything rubber is new as it had hardened over the last 54 years.

Imperfections: the front fender has a depression for the removed aftermarket air horn compressor, the fuel tank has a small dent and black paint in Honda emblems is cracking, plastic chain guard is missing, ignition contact point cover has been dented but straightened. The air filter housing had small crack that was fixed in 1976 but needed a better repair as well as the side covers which had small cracks both are now fixed with fiberglass*** cloth and epoxy.

Aftermarket accessories included if you want them; Windjammer III fairing, saddle bags, rear backrest/rack, front roll bar, oil cooler, and custom fat *** seat.

This 750 is roughly 98% original, original paint, with no rust. I still have the original 3 ring binder shop manual as well. It's a strong running 750 that's carried me across the country several times but now it's refreshed and ready for a new rider.

Since getting it back in running condition I've been riding it and realizing how much fun it is. I also found out why I had bought a custom seat as the stock one is hard and uncomfortable. I put the custom seat back on.
