<p>In 2014, the German company introduced a redesigned BMW R1200RT with several modifications. The largest one was integrating a liquid-cooled system, followed by minor updates, such as the seating position, fairing, instruments, and frame.</p><p>Standard features included two ride modes, Rain and Road, which were activated at the press of a button for various road conditions, an onboard computer, an electrically adjustable windscreen, color-matched panniers, and heated grips.</p><p>In 2016, the German motorcycle manufacturer launched the BMW R1200RT, a sport-touring motorcycle packed with standard features, such as an upper fairing with a medium-sized windscreen, a two-piece dual seat with passenger grab rails, side-mounted panniers, a side stand, and lightweight 10-spoke aluminum wheels.</p><p>As for the power figures, the 2016 BMW R1200RT had its soul brought to life by a 1,170cc four-stroke twin-cylinder liquid-cooled boxer engine fed by an Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system, delivering 125 hp at 7,750 rpm and 125 Nm (92 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.</p><p>The bike's suspension system comprised a 37 mm BMW Telelever fork on the front and a single-sided swingarm with an adjustable BMW EVO Paralever shock absorber on the rear, delivering excellent suspension performance and handling.</p><p>Our BMW R1200RT is in excellent condition with good tires and recent service. <p>2007 BMW R 1200 S </p><p>Prior to the dashing red-and-silver streak before you, BMW’s twin-cylinder sportbike was the R1100S, introduced in 1999. It was a groundbreaker by virtue of having BMW’s most powerful opposed flat twin to date, with a claimed 98 horsepower at the crank and 500 rpm higher redline of 8,400. It was also the first boxer with a six-speed transmission. These features alone suggested that the German company was serious about the sporting intent of the R1100S, but this is also a class in which BMW will only go so far with its R-series bikes. Their traditional shaft final drives and BMW’s insistence upon long-distance comfort-or at least the intention of it-limits any boxer “sportbike” BMW produces to more of a sport-touring role, at least when compared to motorcycles most riders consider true sportbikes.</p><p>The same is probably true of the all-new <strong>2007 R1200S</strong>, but if I hadn’t told you, you may never have found out. Once again we have BMW’s most powerful boxer engine to date, now with a claimed 122 horsepower and 83 lb-ft of torque at the crank, in the “hex head” engine introduced in the 2005 R1200GS. At 482 pounds ready to ride with a full tank, weight is down from the R1100S by a claimed 29 pounds, and cornering clearance is increased. Twin mufflers are stacked under that very businesslike tailsection in serious sportbike style, which only allows the addition of a seatbag-no hard luggage will be offered. Yet the bike retains a very reasonable seating position that is much more comfortable than the awkward ergonomics of its R1100S predecessor, and still has the trademark Paralever single-sided swingarm instead of a chain. Granted it’s the lighter and more aggressive-looking EVO version from the GS, with its top-mounted torque arm and 50mm hole in the final drive, but the number of current “sportbikes” with shaft finals can be counted on one hand. BMW says that because of these things its version is a “sportbike with character.”</p><p>So which is it, sportbike or sport tourer? As you may have surmised, the R1200S Character Sport is both. On the gas the bike’s only limitations are the traditional BMW driveline-which has some lash and requires deliberate shifts using the clutch-and the harshness of the standard suspension, easily fixed by throwing some dollars in the √Oñhlins package. A 6-inch-wide rear wheel for mounting a 190/50-size tire is available for incurable go-fasters, too. For getting there, the bike is far more comfortable than much of the competition, and is further enhanced in this area with that decent little windscreen, optional soft luggage and heated grips. Whether you look at it as a comfy sportbike or a racy sport tourer, the R1200S is a complete package.</p><p>This R1200S is in perfect condition, it runs and rides perfect. The cons are few but should be stated: there are some pock marks in the clear coat on the fork legs (similar to what you would see on most Harleys); there is also a little pitting on the auxiliary light mounting brackets; the gas tank paint has a few blisters on the topside. MUCH less than typical wear for a bike of this age and mileage, and you have to lean in quite close to see any of it. In fact, from two or three paces back you’d say this bike was absolutely museum-worthy. But do you want to put it in a museum? Hell, NO! <p>BMW introduced its first post-war twin-cylinder model in 1949. This was the R51/2 based, as its designation suggests, on the pre-war R51. Introduced in 1938, the latter was an updated version of the R5 of 1936, which had represented a new departure for BMW by virtue of its method of valve actuation, adopting two chain-driven camshafts that permitted shorter pushrods and higher revs. The R51 deployed the R5-type engine in new cycle parts that featured a telescopic front fork and plunger rear suspension, while improvements incorporated into the post-war R51/2 included a two-way damped front fork, a gearbox main-shaft damper and a strengthened frame.</p><p>BMW demonstrated that they were in tune with the times, and in one year of production 5,000 units were manufactured. After one year of production, the R51/2 was replaced by the R51/3.</p><p>The 1950 R51/2 was also favored by the government agencies such as the police which opted for the heavy BMW machines again. President Heuss’s federal escort received six of the first copies manufactured at the time.</p><p>The model featured a 494cc air-cooled four-stroke twin-cylinder boxer engine that delivered an output power of 24 hp at 5,800 rpm and was fitted with a four-speed manual transmission. The bike had a weight of 185 kg (407 lbs) and a top speed of 135 kph (83 mph).</p><p>The front telescopic fork featured a hydraulic damper, and the rear had a telescopic suspension. The model came with wired-spoked wheels and 200 mm brake drum units front and rear, and a twin bird tail-shaped exhaust.</p><p>Our R51/2 is a matching numbers bike. It was restored many years ago and was held in a private collection. Blue Moon Cycle bought the estate recently. We put fresh oil and a new battery in it and like most vintage BMWs it started right up and runs great. The German KALI sidecar is true to the period. <p>2023 Triple black BMW GS 1250 in great condition, no scratches or dents, always kept covered. Original BMW cases included , Givi engine guards and and Denali D4 lights with installation kit ($1000 value, I have not had the time to get them installed) . Never taken off road . This is a fantastic bike, rides beautifully . Selling it due to health reasons, wish I could enjoy it more.</p>
