The upright riding style of the GS bikes make for comfortable long rides. The R1200GS was built as a go anywhere do anything bike. Also, if you have never had a motorcycle with cruise control, it is a game changer on some of the long boring straight aways you are likely to encounter as you go from pretty/curvy place to pretty/curvy place. The push button start is convenient.</p><p><br></p><p>I took this bike on a 3000 plus mile trip summer of 2023. The bike performed well in every environment I put it in. The bike has been reliable for me the entire time I have owned it. I ride the bike to work as often as I drive my car, so the mileage will continue to slowly increase. </p><p><br></p><p>The Touratech Seat is a nice upgrade to the BMW plank that comes on the bike stock. The Touratech seat did get a small tear in it. It was repaired with nylon upholstery thread and leather repair glue (see pictures). </p><p><br></p><p>Please ask questions if you have them. <p>1981 Yamaha Seca 750 not Maxim. That is what I started with and it had 7700 miles on it. This bike has been totally restored and turned into a Cafe Racer. I took it down to the frame, and after modifications I took the frame, wheels, and swing arm to powder coat. As you can see there are either new parts or restored parts. There is too much to list here so I will be glad to talk to you on the phone about it. A lot of time and money went into this project.
