This middleweight machine features a 689cc parallel twin and mates it with Yamaha's cross-plane crank (pioneered on the R1) and the results are awesome, providing a linear throttle response with plenty of grunty torque down low and strong mid-range horsepower. With a curb weight of under 400 lbs, this bike is easy enough to ride that it can function as a starter machine while also having enough fun factor to keep experienced riders engaged and smiling.
