- Engine: The 2022 KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION is powered by a lightweight but heavy-hitting brute of an engine. Punching out massive HP, but weighing in at only 59 lb (26.8 kg), this SOHC powerplant is the undisputed champion of holeshots. For 2022, the engine has been rotated 2 degrees backward, resulting in a 3 mm lower front sprocket position. The benefits? Dramatically improved mass-centralization for easier handling and maneuverability and better anti-squat behavior.
- Cylinder Head: Redesigned to be lighter and more compact, this SOHC cylinder head uses a shorter profile, locating the camshaft closer to the center of gravity. This together with parallel frame mounts significantly improve handling and agility, while four ultra-lightweight titanium valves - 40 mm for the intake and 33 mm for the exhaust - are activated via extremely rigid rocker arms, which are DLC coated on the intake side. A new valve cover reduces the number of mounting screws needed to only 2, while a single oil spray jet guarantees efficient cooling to further save on weight.
- Crankshaft: The crankshaft on the KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION is located in an ideal position close to the center of gravity, utilizing a short connecting rod, allowing for snappy power delivery. The entire construction is extremely well-balanced, with the perfect amount of inertia for optimal traction and rideability. This design also enhances durability, allowing for longer crankshaft service intervals - resulting in less effort in the pits, and more time on the podium.
